Capital Benchmarking Survey

  • 7 May 2018

About the benchmark

The ORX Capital Benchmarking Survey is conducted annually and gives a unique insight into levels of capital held by the banking industry.

It provides the only industry-wide comparison on levels of operational risk capital in the banking industry. The annual benchmark collects a large amount of privileged data from participants on their current capital values as well as capital calculated with the new standardised approach. In return, participants receive an individual and anonymised benchmark report.

This is a unique study, which gives participants a detailed level of comparison of their operational risk capital. Both high-level and in-depth benchmarking are delivered, providing participants with tools to engage senior management and help respond to regulatory challenge.

Capital Benchmarking 2018

This year’s study will mirror the QIS benchmark with firms submitting the operational risk tab of their QIS Basel III monitoring submission (see https://www.bis.org/bcbs/qis/ for the latest template). This will save participants time, ensure consistency and allow ORX to provide both a capital benchmark and a benchmark of the BCBS monitoring exercise.

Participating firms will receive an individual report, benchmarking current and historical capital as well as the new standardised approach capital in August. Additionally, results will be discussed at the upcoming Scenario and analytics forum and a shorter report will be shared with non-participating firms later in the year.
