The role

ORX is hiring a Senior Analyst to work in our Research and Information Department. The successful applicant will be actively involved in analysing and improving the quality and relevance of our risk data (currently > 850K data points shared by over 80 financial services institutions): building effective data quality processes, creating incisive data analytics and helping develop our portfolio of data products. This is a varied, interesting and rewarding role that would suit someone with experience working with data and undertaking data analysis and quality assurance to help ensure we meet the increasingly demanding operational risk data needs of our members.

You will have proven experience of Excel and SQL and ideally experience with R or another programming language. Experience working on complex data projects, demonstrating how you have identified data quality issues, improved data quality and made recommendations for improvements to stakeholders would be beneficial.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Senior Analyst will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the quality and integrity of ORX data products within agreed operational timelines. Improving our overall approach to data quality across all data services by building tools and developing processes that are effective and efficient.
  • Undertaking thorough data interrogation to help understand gaps, emerging issues or trends in the data. Providing useful and relevant insight to member-facing colleagues.
  • Supporting the delivery of ORX data products to our members by developing a deep understanding of the data reports currently offered and helping to shape future products.
  • Communicating recommendations for improvements to service delivery and working practices to internal stakeholders.

Skills and knowledge

Essential

  • First degree or equivalent in a numerate discipline or relevant work experience
  • Demonstrable experience of data manipulation and interrogation tools, e.g., SQL or R. Excellent working knowledge of Excel
  • Demonstrable experience in a data role or working with large data sets, delivering a range of outputs for example evidence of data quality, tool development, process documentation and insightful analysis
  • Experience of working on complex data projects
  • Experience of operational delivery: achieving agreed deadlines and KPIs

Desirable

  • Experience of leading the development of engaging data analysis and reporting and working with a broad range of business stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of data security and data protection legislation and how it applies across a global membership base
  • Experience in a financial services role

  • Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking skills, making connections across complex business processes to ensure the on-going integrity of ORX data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills from working with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Able to understand and summarise complex data/ analytics concepts and translate them into insights and actions
  • Reliable and trustworthy; able to handle highly confidential material with the highest discretion
  • Natural curiosity about how data could be developed to meet members’ needs; experience of working in a change environment and driving innovation
  • Effective team player
